Alhaurin el Grande is located on a beautiful spot against the green hills of the Sierra de Mijas. It is still an authentic Spanish town where the Alhaurino\u2019s work and above all enjoy life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Alhaurin el Grande is located in the province of M\u00e1laga, only 30 kilometres away from the capital and at a height of 239 meter above sea level. The town has a population of around 23.000 people. It is one of the most picturesque villages in the Guadalhorce river valley. It was called Alhaurin by the Arabs, which according to some historians, means \u2018The Valley\u2019, originating from the Arab word \u2018Al-Haur\u2019, because of its location in the valley of the Fahala river. Other historians say the name originates from the Arab Word \u2018Alhauerin\u2019, which means \u2018almighty God\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Alhaurin has a spectacular view over the \u2018Hoya de M\u00e1laga\u2019- the Valley of M\u00e1laga, filled with lemon and fruit trees. From above it resembles a gigantic colourful carpet. Most of the small and narrow streets in the town centre meander to the main square. Here you can find the town hall and the church \u2018Vera Santa Cruz\u2019.<\/p>\n

Surroundings<\/h3>\n

The coast (Costa del Sol) is not far away. Fuengirola and Mijas are at the end of a winding road through the mountains. There is also a new and quick connection to Fuengirola and Mijas Costa, bringing you to the beach in less than 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

The rolling hills and open views of the Alhaurin area give a sense of space. It is a fertile region, known for its countless orange and lemon trees that bear fruit particularly in the winter months.<\/p>\n

Alhaurin has a direct connection to Marbella via the A355, a beautiful road surrounded by high mountains. The rest of the area, however, is quite flat and open. The Alhaurin area has a pleasant climate with a mild wind blowing mostly from the North and West. In winter 2015 a long time unfinished road was opened, this extension of the A355 connects Alhaurin el Grande with the motorway A357 to M\u00e1laga and Ardales.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][\/vc_accordion][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″]
